The new licensing regime for centralised virtual asset trading platforms (“VA trading platforms”) came into effect on 1 June 2023. Under the new licensing regime, all VA trading platforms carrying on business in Hong Kong or actively marketing services to Hong Kong investors will need to be licensed and regulated by the SFC.

To prepare for the new regulatory regime and changes, we work with David Harrington, a compliance professional with over 30 years of experience in financial services, most recently serving as the Chief Compliance Officer at a Hong Kong licensed virtual asset platform operator with offices in Hong Kong, Singapore and Mexico.
